Biography

Hugo Partsch specialized for Dermatology and 1979 received a PhD in Dermatology. His sub speciality is Angiology. 1984 he was appointed as a Professor of Dermatology at the Medical University of Vienna, established an outpatient department for vascular diseases in Vienna and then served as the Head of the Dermatological Department of the Wilhelminen Hospital for 15 years. Hugo Partsch founded the Austrian working group for Phlebology 1986 and served as the President of the International Union of Phlebology between 1999 and 2003. He is an honorary member of several international medical societies. 2005 he created the International Compression Club (ICC), which is a forum linking medical experts with manufacturer’s representatives, trying to promote the science behind compression therapy; to propose research trials and to organize consensus meetings on several practically important issues like classification of compression material or evidence based indications for compression treatment. He is a retired Professor at the Medical University of Vienna.

Research Interest

His main interest is peripheral vascular diseases and the scientific research publications are focussing on compression therapy and on diagnosis and management of acute and chronic venous disease, vascular malformations, leg and foot-ulcers and of lymphoedema.
