Biography
Ferdinando Mannello received his Biological Science degree (1982) and his specialization (1999) in Clinical Biochemistry at the University “Carlo Bo†of Urbino, where he trained in Laboratory Technology, and completing fellowships as Visiting Professor in USA (2005-9) and UK (2010). For several years he was Assistant Professor of Cell Biology at the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the University of Urbino. Since 2015, he is Associate Professor of Clinical Biochemistry at the University of Urbino, and Director of the Section of Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at the Dept of Biomolecular Sciences of the University of Urbino. He holds the chair of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology at the School of Biotechnology of the University of Urbino. Currently, he is pursuing and supervising the research work at the Section of Clinical Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, mainly focusing the interests in the biochemical aspects of the chronic wound microenvironments. He has designed and conducted clinical studies to evaluate novel therapies for venous leg ulcers, especially with glycosaminoglycans-based therapy. The main research activities were focused on setting up his biochemical laboratories to diagnostic and prognostic biomolecular techniques for wound assessment and identification of clinically useful biomarkers in wound fluids. He has ongoing collaborations with the Dept of Surgery and the Dept of Angiology in a variety of preclinical and clinical studies, with collaborative works with USA and UK Universities. Efforts of his laboratories continue to be focused on all aspects of translational research in wound healing. Prof. Mannello’s scientific accomplishments resulted in numerous publications in prominent peer-reviewed and impacted scientific journals
