Advanced Wound Care Market (AWC Market) was valued at $7,117 million, and is expected to reach $12,454 million by 2022, supported by a CAGR of 8.3%. Advanced wound care products and traditional wound care products are used to treat acute and chronic wounds. Chronic wounds take considerable time to heal and are expensive to treat. Due to its high cost, advanced wound care has emerged as a standard solution for treating chronic wounds. Advanced wound care products are gradually replacing the traditional wound care products due to their efficacy and effectiveness in managing wounds by enabling faster healing.

The global wound dressing market size was valued at USD 9.16 billion in 2014 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.4% over the forecast period. Wound infection is a major safety concern for patients as well as for healthcare professionals globally, thus wound care is essential to reduce infections and promote well-being of patients. Rising incidence of diseases such as pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers and venous stasis ulcers is likely to result in a growth in demand for advanced wound care products for treating these conditions. Wound dressing helps to improve the overall well-being of patients affected from the aforementioned disorders.

Regional and Country Overview:

Copenhagen, Denmark is the region with growth potential for the market due to a high population base, continuous increase in disposable incomes, and rising patient awareness. Medical tourism and rising prevalence of lifestyle diseases, such as diabetes, has made Asia-Pacific a lucrative market for the offered products. It is the fastest emerging region in the advanced wound care market. At present, penetration of the modern wound care products is slow in the Asia-Pacific region due to cost constraints. Despite low penetration, it has an advantage over traditional wound care products due to lower bed capacity in hospitals, the inclination towards homecare treatment, and the need for early patient discharge from hospitals.

Similarly, Europe has emerged as the second-largest attractive market for advanced wound care products. Smith & Nephew and BSN medical are some of the key market players based in Europe, that further expand the advanced wound care market share in this region. Sales volume has shown a tremendous growth in the European market. The growth of the European market is mainly driven by the factors, such as increased prevalence of chronic diseases due to change in lifestyles, increase in geriatric population, and better insurance policies from several private and government bodies in the field of wound care products.

In Europe, the Denmark wound care market was valued at $100 million in 2015, and is expected to reach $179 million by 2022, registering a CAGR of 8.6% during the forecast period.
